In what season does swimming/diving take place for (most) high schools?

Question

Pretty simple question: Summer, Winter, Fall, or Spring? My school doesn't have a pool, but I was curious and I've always wanted to join a swimming club or something. Thanks.

High School teams work like this:  Girls season is first and runs the fall until just before Thanksgiving.  In January, the boys start and are done by sometime in March.  As for all other teams, Many clubs are year round with a short course yards season that starts in Sept and goes through March.  Then they start up again in May for Long course Meter season whcih runs until Mid August.

It depends where you live.

I know in the Northeast, the girls' high school season is in the fall (late August-November) and the boys' / co-ed teams are in the winter (late November-March). However, I know over in California and probably a few other states, where outdoor pools are more prevalent, their high schools have swimming in the spring. (Summer is usually off)

for us we have girls swimming in the winter (nov-begining of feb.) and guys was sprind (feb.-end of may)

In Kansas, boys swimming is a winter sport, same time as basketball. Girls swimming is in the spring, same time as baseball, track.

YMCA and AAU swim teams compete all year round.

Swim clubs go all year round - it's how the team swimmers and divers stay in training.  In high school, it would probably depend on the location.  Around here, girls' season was from the start of school in Sept. through early November; boys' season was November through January.
