  2. It's legal to a point.. some states, like in California are trying to put a bunch of conditions, like the parents all have to have degrees which is a bunch of nonsense.  Anyone can teach! all you need is a book and love your children enough that you don't want them exposed to the mundane routine of public school learning.

I raised 4 kids.. 2 in public school, 2 homeschooled from 5th grade.  My homeschooled kids have great jobs, my son has a Bachelor's degree in computer science and my daughter takes courses from Cornell and works in the insurance industry.  My public school kids(both daughters) are both great at their jobs and are married and very successful too.

But that is because of their upbringing they both wanted to get out of school as soon as possible and even took college courses in high school to gain credits to graduate early.

  3. Homeschooling is legal in all fifty states - including California.

  4. As others have pointed out, Homeschooling is LEGAL in all 50 States.

Each State has their own laws about what is needed to Homeschool and as long as you follow the rules set forth you will be fine. Some States are easier than other and some have what amount to 'ridiculous' rules, but hey that's what floats their boat.

Your best source for the laws regarding Homeschooling in your State is www.hslda.org and then go over to the map of states and pick your state. When it pulls up click on the 'How to homeschool legally' link and go thru the info.

Many Countries do not allow homeschool if they follow the 'Communist' ideas (Germany, Russia, etc) while others try to 'regulate' homeschool as much as they can.

Everybody wants what is best for the children, the problem is that nobody can AGREE on what is best and how to do it.

  5. NONE

It's legal in all 50 states.  Each state sets their own regulations for HS'ing, so it varies by state.

Here are two sites where you can see the laws of each state:

  6. Its legal here!

  7. Homeschooling is legal in all fifty states. Every state has it's own policy on homeschooling.

  8. If your question is about the United States of America the answer is that homeschooling is indeed legal in every one of the 50 states.

If you are talking about Europe and other areas around the world then I can't answer because I do not know.  There are many places in the world that do not allow home-schooling.  Germany has been in the home-schoool community news about this quite often.

GOD BLESS AMERICA --  LAND OF THE FREE!

From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam -- GOD BLESS AMERICA -- MY home sweet HOME!

  9. Germany is the only State that I know of that has legal problems with homeschooling.

Edit for Barb: A State is a self-governing political entity. The term State can be used interchangeably with country.

  10. States of Confusion?

Just joking - like others have correctly pointed out - it is legal in every state.

  11. The link below lists all the legal guidelines for homeschooling in the US.  Apparently, homeschooling is legal in all states, but there are degrees of regulation that varies from state to state.

The states that require high regulations include New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachussetts and North Dakota.
