rear end comes first to mind. always avoid all collisions how ever you have to.

It would be beneficial to speed up to AVOID any collision. If you are about to get T-boned it would be beneficial to speed up to get hit in the trunk instead of the doors. It is never beneficial to speed up for any type of head-on collision.
