  1. John Adams spent the majority of his time during that period in Philadelphia constructing the constitution. He was not a man of substantial financial resources, so he did not contribute financially to the war. Obviously he and Abigail spent some "creative time" in constructing a future president. He defended the british men involved in the Boston Massacre and won the case . . . you may think this the act of a traitor, but it actually proved to the british that we were a fair and civil society. When the first continental congress came about in 1774, John served in it and was one of the first leaders to suggest independence. He helped form the continental army in 1775 during the second continental congress. He also wrote almost all of the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution. The same year he was appointed to negotiate with Britain. Through 1782, he worked for peace and agreed on loan and trade treaties.

  2. If there was no John Adams, there would be no USA

  3. Adams was one of the major inspirations for the movement towards independence.  He helped create the U.S. Navy and Marines.  Adams was a member of the Continental Congress and later as a diplomat helped negotiate peace with Britain.  He was the author of the Declaration of Independence.
