Since this is the volleyball topic, the two parties to which you refer clearly is the indoor/hardwood party and the outdoor/beach party. Never in the history of civilization has two factions held so much animus for each other, and each serving as heresy to the orthodox of the other.

I do not think that the existence of the two party system strengthens volleyball in the US, and I for one, advocate a permanent schism, an athletic bulla of excommunication between the two. Each should be forced to drop the name volleyball, and invent a new name for their respective sports.
