In what way is the exploration of outer space beneficial to mankind?

1.Why do we need to explore the outer space?

2.Why do we need to explore the planet--Mars?

3.Why billions or trillions of dollars is being dump into exploraing the outer space when there are thousands of millions of people starving out there?

Too much money is spent with space exploration, when caring for the earth and its inhabitants is so much more important ,but we humans will always want to reach beyond our world and its responsibilities in the hope of finding a richer more meaningful dimension.If we could look in the right directions...

One reason is that we may be able to harvest minerals and ores from space, plus some medicines have been proven to germinate better in zero gravity.

Some day we may need to have people live on Mars.

BUT I agree that a lot more needs to be spent on people here and now

Space exploration creates countless technologies as the scientists and engineers are developing ways to explore space- do you see?  It is not necessarily the end result that NASA is looking for, but what is developed and can be applied to other parts of society, mathematics, and engineering.

There will always be people suffering, no matter what.

Exploring space is beneficial to us because it can show us new things, help with new inventions, help humankind.

It also be harmful - what if we come across a technologically advanced hostile race? But then again, if they are so much more advanced than us, they probably have seen the error of their ways.

Outer space is the one place that can show us our true history, where we came from, the beginning of the universe and time.

Like the old saying, never leave your eggs(humans) in one basket(Planet). Its pretty much increasing our chance to surevive. If earth is destroyed humanity is dead. but if there are colonies people can live on rather than to start from the stone age. so 1) Yes to find where we came from.2)Yes , a refugee from earth.3) ????
