In what ways can I help the mentally handicapped?

How can I volunteer my time to help the mentally handicapped? I just want to do something but I don't really know where to go or who to talk to about anyone needing help. I want to just get involved, once every week or every odd week. I'm from Edmonton, Alberta in Canada.

thats in edmonton, call them, and ask what you can do.

I do not think that the term "mentally handicapped " is PC at the moment , perhaps you need to work on that first.
