In what ways have the first amendment rights been of particular importance to women and minorities?

Im a senior in a AP Government class and im kinda stuck on this question i need help please..

The first amendment encompasses free speech and freedom of assembly, among others (free press).  Thus because the 1st amendment doesn't discriminate against any one particular class, women and minorities have been able to rely on it in order to spread their message of equality to the masses.  Having mass public demonstrations and rallies helped bring their cause to the American public.  Maybe that will give you a start.
