  1. As the asian population in Australia increases, so do the asian supermarkets and take-away stores. In the supermarkets, all the food is imported from asia so the asians living here can eat what they would eat if they were at home. It's also good for us non-asians as we get a taste of a different culture by travelling only a suburb or two away. (it's funny, these supermarkets have stuff I have never seen or heard of and the things taste REAL interesting)

And the take-away is not greasy, full of MSG asian-immitation take away, its authentic and tastes much better.

There are several suburbs in Sydney with a predominantly asian population hence they have an adundance of asian businesses and thats how Australia is asianised!

  2. The main thing is the proximity of Australia to Asia.

  3. The only thing Asian about Australia is as someone mentioned, it's close proximity to Asia. There are many Asian communities in Australia (mainly Chinese), and they exist peaceful with everyone else, but they haven't really made any significant impact on Australian culture, they just practice their own in small communities (ie China Town).

Australia is very much a Western Country, and the different cultures (including Asian cultures), that are present in Australia co-exist in much the same way as any other multi-cultural Western nation. I think it's fair to say that Australian culture is mainly a mix of British and American cultures. Although there is behaviour and activities that are demeed uniquely Australian, they are still mainly based on Western practices.

Also, the expected social etiquette and behaviour in Australia is very similar to what you'd find in any Western nation.
