In what ways is a bureaucracy undemocratic?

  1. Bureaucracies are neutral, the problem is there is not a true democracy on this planet. Every last government is oppressive and exploitative and their bureaucrats carry out the negative policies


  2. The bureaucracy comprises of the state's employees. Higher posts in the hierarchy are filled in by people who are appointed, usually by the perceived highest ranking elected government officia. (president, prime minister, etc.)

    What makes it undemocratic is that many times, the power to appoint is used to reward allies who helped the highest official to get to the top.

  3. A bureaucracy is staffed by appointees who are not elected by eligible voters.  A democracy has every eligible voter voting on everything.

  4. The people do not elect or have any real say in who runs and works for these bureaucracies.

  5. A bureaucracy is an inefficient mass of tangled red tape run by self serving incompetents.

    They are an elitist group who think they are smarter than the average person who is too stupid to make decisions for himself. The exact opposite of a democracy.

    Sounds like Democrats to me.
