Hi neoshark, I think it would depend on how you define 'design and 'environment'. Design can be driven by many factors;

aesthetics, efficiency, cost, profit, marketing etc, Environmental influences might be driven by efficiency, lifetime disposal costs, social or legislative pressure, material sources etc. That's a really "wide" question!
