  1. It started with an article in the Times of London in 1856 which called her by that name for the very first time. This was followed by a very popular poem by Henry Longfellow "Santa Filomena" in 1857, which went - "Lo! in that hour of misery a lady with a lamp I see pass through the glimmering gloom, and flit from room to room."
