Question:

In what year did the Kentucky Derby start restricting the field to 20 horses with the top earnings?

Also, are those earnings for the horse only in his 3-year-old year, or do those earnings include the horse's 2-year-old earnings and 3-year-old earnings? Do the other Triple Crown races limit the starters by earnings? Or are the Preakness and Belmont field usually small enough that this is not needed?

Also, in the racing program, a B means a horse is wearing blinkers, but what does the b and f mean?

I know that The Jockey Club requires all racehorses be tattooed on the inside of their upper lip as identification. Does The Jockey Club also use micro-chipping?

Finally, some sources list Alonzo Clayton in 1892 and James Perkins in 1895 as the youngest jockeys, at 15, to win the Derby. Other sources list only Clayton as the youngest to win. Any clarification on this?

Many thanks.
