  1. You would have to be more specific to get a specific answer. But generally speaking... animals will try to bluff out of a fight whenever they can.

Threat displays emphasize or advertise an animal’s size or weaponry and therefore intimidate other animals into giving up before the fight escalates.

When experiencing the simultaneous emotions of anger and fear, and the companion impulses to fight and to flee, some animals just bluff.

They would rather not fight and risk injury so they bluff to try and scare off any potential threats or enemies.

  2. Many. For instance, peacocks and other birds not only use their plumage (brightly colored feathers) to attract mates, but also to scare other birds off to avoid a fight, or to try and intimidate them before one. Many animals also release bad odors when trying to avoid other animals. Also you know when a cat gets angry and it's fur sticks all straight up? That would be the cat telling it's enemies: Hey BACK OFF I am SO mad right now

  3. I have been bluff charged by a bear.  She did not want to fight but she ran at high speed toward me and stopped half way to me.  You can bet I left rather quickly.  I understand but have not experienced that grizzlies will not bluff,  when they feel threatened they attack,

  4. Porcupines puff up their quills. Opossums play dead.  Cats arch their backs and hiss.  Big cats, hippos, bears and rhinos will charge but stop short.  Etc.
