  1. Denmark.

  2. Swedon is among them. I guess Scandanavia in general.

Uh, having LAWS on the books is NOT the same as truly having equality. I'd suggest those who don't grasp the difference, research the women employees class action suit against Wal-Mart. Then stroll through posts in Politics: Elections, about Clinton's run for the Democratic nomination.

To give just two ideas of how what th law says is not the full story.

BTW, you might be interested in this tidbit of science news:

'In countries where women occupy an equal position to men in society, such as Sweden, there was virtually no gender gap in maths ability. However, in countries with lower levels of gender equality, such as Turkey, the boys performed better in maths tests than the girls.

"The gender gap in mathematics doesn't seem to be a feature of every society," says Sapienza.

What's more, the girls produced better reading scores than the boys in all the countries looked at, but did even better in countries with higher levels of gender equality.'

  3. I go with Denmark; along with the added advice of we make our own happiness; no matter what the political views that surround us.

  4. Norway with 'the most'

  5. I agree with Kerncraft 400 aka Hova. All western countries are pretty similar in terms of social equality.

  6. I don't remember if it was Sweden or Switzerland, but there's some European country where the men stay home and the wives work?

I'm going to sound really dumb here, b/c I don't remember which country it was .I read it in my sociology textbook.

What's funny is that the countries with social equality between men and women seem to have less problems and less fussing?

  7. Northern Europe seems to have the best system with the least predjudice.

  8. Legally, most of the west has fairly equal legal status for men and women. However, socially I would say that Scandinavia is most progressive, as there is often very little cultural angst about rights issues and gender equality.
