During and shortly after the 2. World war Horse meat was also eaten in Germany.

Austria,  Belgium,  Canada,  Chile,  China,  France,  Germany,  Iceland,  Indonesia, Italy,  Japan,  Kazakhstan,  Malta,  Mongolia,  The Netherlands,  Norway,  Poland,  Slovenia,  Sweden,  Switzerland,  United Kingdom, and (until fairly recently, the United States).

In some of these countries it is considered food for the poor or old-fashioned.  In others it is a delicacy.  I'd try it if I got the chance.

I had horse meat at an izakaya (Japanese style drinking place). It was served raw, chilled. It doesn't taste bad.

Spittelfields market in London used to sell Pony.

The restaurant I worked in used it for lasagne, chilli etc.
