United States or Canada?

In the United States, there are less taxes. However, medical expenses are higher than in Canada.

In Canada, there are higher taxes. But there are great public transportation. I don't need a car. I can take the bus and train everywhere I go. So I save a lot on gas and car insurance and maintainence. Medical expenses are lower also.

  1. my cousin lives in canada and the price on everything is higher, for instance jelly costs 3.99 here and about 5.99 there. boots cost about double in canada, the same as other things. My cousin is actually visiting down here right now and she is in awe on how cheap everything is.

  2. I would have to say Canada, your right about the taxes being higher, but did you know you do not have to pay for insurance, or any of that, the government pays for everyone... and i think you can really save a lot of money in that department.

  3. "Medical expenses are higher" is a myth and a ridiculous statement. Everything is cheaper in the US, INCLUDING health care insurance (which is all you need!). The taxes in Canada are SO high because it is used to pay for things like health care, so you would be better off just paying the cheaper insurance in the US out of pocket (or many employers include a medial package!). On top of that, the health care in Canada is a joke, corrupt, and perhaps one of the worst of developed countries in the world. I have heard people from Canada compare hospitals to 5 star hotels in the US, anyone from Canada would know that you couldn't say that about any Canadian public hospital. The wait times in Canada are unbelievable and the service is terrible, not the case in the US. Also, you might make a larger salary in Canada, but everything is so expensive, including taxes, that if you made less in the US for the same job it would even out. Cars are cheaper in the US, gas is cheaper in the US, car insurance is cheaper in the US! Come on, it's a no brainer!
