In which direction ( N, E, S, W) should a window face to get a lot of sunlight during the day?

Looking at places to buy and I was wondering which was is a good way for most of the windows to face to get a lot of natural sunlight in a home.

If you want all day sunlight in nyc you want the windows to face south east. It all depends on your latitude and longitude. Hope that helps you out!

It depends on if you want the morning sun or the evening sun.  The sun rises in the East and sets in the West, so that would be the two directions you would want to get the most natural sunlight.  It can be overpowering though.  I too, enjoy having the room lit up with sunlight.  Choose a house with a lot of East facing windows for the morning sun or a lot of West facing windows for the evening sun.  Good luck.
