In which situation should we use "toward", and "towards"?

I want know the differences between these two words.

  1. Either will do. There is no difference - they are the same word. How you use them is up to you - some have a preference for toward, others prefer towards. Personally I prefer "towards".

    "Toward" is mainly an American way of writing.
