  1. I know of a nice little spring in eastern Nevada, out in the middle of nowhere on private land.

Tested at 158 F.  Potable.  We loaded food into plastic bags on strings and cooked out of it for a week.

The owners had also plumbed a pipe to a 15 foot diameter cattle trough about 3 ft deep.  In the early evening we'd drain a bunch of the water from the tank, refill it with hot and had a nice hot tub for the night.  It would cool off and we had a nice pool during the heat of the day.

    Nice!

In California, Owen's Valley there are several non-potable hot springs, publicly accessible that can cook food in some pools.  Look in the area between Mammoth Mountain and Bishop.  There's also a great one near Benton (private, no access) that'll cook food in one of the pools.

Gotta watch these hot ones, you'll be horribly scalded or dead as soon as you realize your mistake.
