  1. 1 ) IN THE ANTHERS = The microspore mother cells undergo meiosis in the anther lobes to form HAPLOID microspores or pollen grain .

    2 ) IN THE OVULE =  A single diploid cell of the nucellus in the ovule in side the ovary act as the megaspore mother cell.

    ONLY this single cell undergoes MEIOSIS  to form four HAPLOID  megaspores . Out of these four , three degenerate and only one megaspore germinates to form the female gametophyte or the embryo sac !!!
