    The 1916 summer games were to be held in Berlin, Germany, were cancelled due to World War I.

    The 1940 summer games were to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

    The 1940 winter games were to be held in Sapporo, Japan.

    The 1944 summer games were to be held in London, England.

    The 1944 winter games were to be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

    These 4 were cancelled due to World War II.

    PS: The 1980 games were not cancelled but it was boycotted by the USA in protest of the 1979 Soviet war against Afghanistan. Some other populous countries - including Japan, West Germany, China, the Philippines and Canada also chose not to attend.
