  1. London's first airport for civilian flights was Croydon Aerodrome, which opened in 1920


  2. Croydon was the first commercial airport opened within the London area, closely followed by Gatwick and then Heathrow. However Hendon, Biggin Hill and Kenley where airfields used during the Great War as RFC / RAF airfields.

  3. Croydon Airport - c1921.  It's still there, sort of, but no airfield left now, just a few buildings.
