Please Explain your anwer:

Past: Rickey Henderson- He was a Speed Demon, no one could throw him out. And even though his BA was low, his OBP was really high.

Present: Ichiro Suzuki- hands down, if he started his career in the Majors at a younger age, he would arguably been the Greastest of all time today. He is the best singles hitter in the History of the game. His speed is incredible, and his baserunning skills is undeniable.

  1. Rickey Henderson because he was so dangerous once he got on base, holds the record for most steals in a season and career, took walks, had power, and played solid defense.

Present: Hanley Ramirez because he's powerful, hit for a high average, great speed, and a solid short stop.

Ichiro wouldn't even close to be mentioned as the best leadoff hitter ever even if he started his career in the US. Ichiro does not draw walks, he doesn't steal as much as he should, he has no power, and he doesn't take walks. Ichiro isn't even the best lead off hitter this year. Ichiro is overrated.

  2. No argument with Henderson.  Ichiro for career active players but for this year Kinsler is having a better year.

  3. Past- Rickey Henderson. He set the single season record for most stolen bases in a season, with 130, and has over 500 more stolen bases that any other player.

Present- The last few years it has been Ichiro, but since he is getting older I would say Hanley Ramirez. He also hits for a high average, gets a lot of triples, has stolen over 50 bases for two straight years, and has a ton of power.

  4. look at the numbers,,,,it's ricky henderson!!

  5. I think Ichiro is a wonderful pick and agree with what you say. However, this season its Ian Kinsler. Has lead the AL in batting average at one point. Has 25 stolen bases (caught once).  329 hitter with a .388 OBP.  A career high 143 hits in a season and well on his way to 200.

    Great question. Heres a star.

  6. Agreed

  7. Past Rickey Henderson-- you can not even argue.

    Ichiro of the present.

Lets not forget the man in between Kenny Lofton. He did the lead off mans job for alot of teams, some more than once.

  8. KENNY LOFTON hands down!!!

  9. Curtis Granderson!!!

    Go Tigers!

  10. Don't know much about the past in baseball, but for the present, definitely Curtis Granderson. In 2007 he had 7 lead off HRs and has had 3 so far this year. Hes I believe the 3rd closest person to having the most in baseball history.
