  1. My opinion is the same as it has been for the last thirty years...NO!!!!!!

  2. Congress isn't doing their JOB

in that they are supposed to hold the executive accountable

and so far,  Bush has had a free ride with regards to breaking the LAW and getting away with it!

He is either totally incompetent, OR he is part of a criminal conspiracy to defraud the AMERICAN public!

in either case, WHY is this man still on the payroll?

  3. Not at all

  4. At the moment no one seems to be running the country.. certainly not congress.. Peilosi and pals are completely useless.

  5. Neither. Bush is a lame duck and doesn't seem to care what direction he takes the country. Congress' approval rating is a dismal 9% and they could care less about you and me. E coli has a higher approval rating than either Congress or the President. And don't even get me started on the Supreme Court!

  6. This just drives me crazy.   My son is in the second grade and he knows the difference between:

    There, their, and they're.

In answer to your question, yes they are doing "their" job, and it depends on what you mean by "running the country."  Congress legislates the laws and the president signs them or vetos them.

But as Bush so kindly reminded us, he is the "decider."

  7. The Congress decides where oil companies drill.  If Congress was doing their job, we wouldn't have gas at $4 a gallon.

  8. doesn't matter, the country is stripped of its rights, no longer does anyone have rights of privacy... fascists

  9. Congress approval rating is less than down the tubes.  Hey, you all voted for them.  You all don't do your jobs as "We the People" and tell them what you want and don't want.  Without the voice of the people they just do what they please.  Democrats mess things up as usual.

  10. Congress, as a coequal branch of government has NOT been doing it's job for a very LONG time!

The current congress is a bunch of cowards in general who need to be replaced ASAP!

  11. Congress comes before the President in the Constitution - it really is supposed to run the country.  But during the really shocking time the republicans controlled both houses, they did nothing.  They were but a rubber stamp for a religious psychopath in the White House.

Never seen anything that bad!  And it's going to take some time to come back from that really serious level of abuse.

Politics is compromise - and we all want to hear about the guy who stands fast and is uncompromising, etc.  But real politics is compromise - it's getting the job done - it's running the country.

We'll get back to it as we shake off the crooked republicans and their even more crooked "Neo-Cons".

  12. No

Their approval ratings are much lower than the President's

They refuse to address the nation's problems. With an energy crisis in full swing no action is being taken, the majority simply rejects any ides from the GOP.Medicare could go bankrupt soon and they haven't taken action regarding that either. The only thing most congressmen and women(majority of the dems) are worried about is earmarks that personally benefit them.

What a wonderful group of Representatives

  13. if Congress was doing its job Bush would be facing trial for war crimes as would most of the other members of his administration.

  14. No, No, No.

Right now, nobody is doing anything.

  15. Has the Congress, President or the government EVER done their jobs?

    thats the real question

  16. what Congress - I thought that was defunct office... it should be removed since it is a waste of money..

even the Supreme Court is on its own - so much for their attempt to check the president on GTO...

  17. . . . doing THEIR job?  Well, it's supposed to be a system of checks and balances, so, supposedly, they work together; that's how it's supposed to work, anyway!

  18. President Bush did not know how to veto legislation prior to the Democrats getting power in Congress. Now he simply will not allow any legislation to pass. The Republicans still retain enough seats to keep there from being the number of votes necessary to override these vetoes

Thankfully, when the Democratic President takes office, Congress will no longer have the President as an obstruction to getting good things accomplished..

  19. If this job is doing nothing, then they are doing an outstanding job!!!!

Also, in the US government, there are the Legislative (Congress makes laws) and the Executive (President cares out laws) branches.  Both are required to get anything useful done...
