In your opinion, what's the best area of Bogota to stay in?

To live? Depends on your budget. The higher up you go on the mountain, the more it costs. Some apartments Ive seen go for $4500.00 and up. I live in La Calleja baja and we pay just less than $1500.00 month. (2.800.000) which includes the administration and two parking spaces.

I've been there.  I would suggest staying in the "historic bogota".......If you've not been there, it's amazing how BIG it is.  The older part of Bogota is much more enchanting.  Not far by cab is the "hip" part, the newest clubs, "hard rock cafe" and such.  DO BE CAREFUL .......I wouldn't miss Bogota for anything ....... but stay with crowds, mind your manners, don't over drink (which may be hard) Don't argue with others, unless it is worth your life or time in a jail......GO and Have a GREAT time.
