I assume the question is about the tourism industry.  You're question got cut off a little bit.

Above all else, you have to have good communication skills and an insane amount of patience.  Generosity and the genuine desire to help people are also pretty important.

You also have to be good at dispute resolution.  This will most likely happen with customers, but it also happens with employees too and since this question is about management, that's important as well.

You have to be able to work well under pressure, be able to meet deadlines and deal with changing deadlines.

The list goes on, but I think those are the most obvious and most basic qualities and characteristics that any manager, especially one in the tourism business, should have.
