In your opinion, what do you think happened to Laura and Amanda after The Glass Menagerie?

I was thinking about it earlier, and besides the deserted apartment, there is no hint about the whereabouts of the mother and daughter after the events of The Glass Menagerie.

So, what do you think happened to them?

First of all the play is over and there is no real need to know what happened.  In order to have a happy ending, the Hollywood version added an epilogue that showed a new gentleman caller coming to visit Laura.
