Question:

In your opinion, what is the difference between morality and prudishness?

I've noticed that what I deem prudish can easily be seen as a good moral value to another person.

I would like to hear your views on this subject, and if you feel that your spiritual/religious views (or lack thereof) have anything to do with how you perceive it.

I mean this respectfully, as I am sure that we all define it based on our personal beliefs.

  1. I am both open minded yet, am strangely some what old fashioned at the same time.

I cannot stand dirty jokes or profane language in mixed company.  To me that is disrespectful.

Prudish as opposed to "good moral value" that is such a many splendored thing - I doubt we could absolutely agree on anything.   Damned good question tho!

  2. Morals are about ethics and good behavior.

Prudish behaviors tend to have a component of neuroticism.

  3. What some call Prudish

    I call having Modesty

  4. I'm not sure. Depends on the person doing the judging, I guess.

  5. Usually about 3 drinks.

  6. One simple rule.

What's the harm if it doesn't hurt anyone?

Certain things that - well, let's say 'major western religions' - condemn, doesn't hurt anyone. I don't follow arbitrary rules, just ones that make sense. Occasionally, like any human, I slip up. However I accept responsibility for my actions and understand and accept that I will pay for my actions, no more, no less.

I fail to see how this is an 'immoral' way of life. I think you can live a very 'pure' life without being restricted to the 'prude' way of life.

  7. In politics, morality turns into prudishness.
