  1. 1st time DUI offender - $1000 fine + court costs and the same fine to whoever served the drinks

2nd time - Revocation of license for 5 years, loss of vehicle, $5000 fine plus court cost; $10,000 fine for server of drinks.

If involved in collision resulting in injury or death at any time -  fines and prison (max life) . Heavy fines and jail for server of drinks.

(Starting today, 7/1, Illinois is confiscating vehicles of 2nd time DUI suspects.)

  2. 1st offense $5000.00 fine, loss of license or 1 year and 30 days in jail.

    2nd offense..........double.

  3. Big Fine and loss of driving privileges for life

  4. First offence - lose driving licence for 1 year.

Second offence - lose driving licence for 3 years.

Third offence - lose driving licence for life.

Subsequent offences - mandatory confiscation of vehicle, plus option of imprisonment or community service for not less than 3 months.

  5. My opinion is that there should be ZERO tolerance for DUI offenders.  The dangers of drunk driving are well known, and there should be no "warning" level of citations.  A first time offender is no less dangerous, on the road, than a repeat offender.

A first time murderer does not get a lessser sentence than one who has murdered before.

  6. First time - 60 day suspension of driving privileges,

Second time - total revocation of Driving Privileges...

If they insist anyway... Jail freaking time, then enforcement by an ankle bracelet.

I have enough trouble dealing with other MOTORIST who are SOBER.

  7. 1st time offense- a stiff fine, license suspended for a determined period of time and/or till fines and related fees paid, a determined jail sentence, and offender must participate with a coroner in witnessing an autopsy of a drunk driving victim, with the family approval.and an alcohol evaluation at authorized facility as well as a bumper sticker to be placed for one year after license is reinstated on any car, even if the car is borrowed from someone else, the offender drives stating "i am a convicted drunk driver" failure to have sticker would result in arrest, further suspension and jail time for contempt of court

  8. I think the first time should be a hefty fine and a probationary period.  The second time should be a license suspension, and I think additional offenses should constitute a small amount of jail time.

I also think the punishment system should be tiered and based upon the level of intoxication.  I think someone at .09 should receive less of a punishment than someone driving at .15.
