Which European country in your opinion has the biggest alternative culture and music scene, and generally the most out-going styles of dress, etc?

From what I've seen Italy seems to have a fairly large one, especially in Milan and Rome, however, it's difficult to judge from a short visit.

Thanks

  1. I'd say the UK too.

Italy may be so but only bigger cities, otherwise not really.

When it comes to music, London is the place to go. Alternative style, too. Paris&Milan are more classic and fashion business. London is more about street fashion and individual styles.

  2. Definately the United Kingdom of GB. In my opinion. Expecialy London and Manchester.

  3. Music,England! But out-going styles of dress, any kind of fashion

of course is Italy and France!

  4. I think definitely Germany for general alternative styles!  UK for music and style.

France and Italy mostly for fashion, but

lots of mama's boys in Italy.

  5. Depends on what you mean by 'alternative'. I didn't see anything in Italy that struck me as particularly 'alternative', but then I've lived in Europe for pretty much all of my life.

During the few months I spent in the US when I was 20, I saw nothing that could be remotely construed as 'alternative', not even in New York. For a country that supposedly prizes individual freedom, it was surprisingly uniform.

  6. Finland, no question about it. The UK may like to think it does, but its pretty mainstream.
