In your opinion,what's the most successful urban planning project ever?

putting aside our prejudice,  the changing of beijing since the 1990s is a tremendous feat in urban planning. from cycle lanes to cars/buses is just amazing.  the change in the city to show off during the olympics is just humongous and truly commendable.  

we hv to put aside all political matters - how lives hv changed and affected by these development is just amazing and terrible too.  many were displaced and sent away to other places to stay. u can look at beijing area around tian an men square 15yrs ago and today - except for the square and palace - total change!  shanghai too.  

another one is NY - it has gone thru lots of changes since 9/11- so much cleaner, no grafitti. just amazing too.  there r many more such cities
