similac advance or enfamil lipil.

With my first child I gave him similac advance but I didn't have another choice because I had WIC and they only offered similac advance.

I am pregnant with my second child and I was wondering which one did you use, or like better?

I am going to breast feed also.

I am going to do both.

  1. i use similac advance in the blue can. i can not stand the smell of soy formula and my son wont drink it either

  2. Similac Advance EarlyShield is the first and only infant formula with a unique blend of prebiotics, nucleotides and antioxidants — nutrients naturally found in breast milk. Plus, it has DHA and ARA, ingredients shown to help your baby's brain and eyes develop.

Some fats — and components of fats (fatty acids) — offer a number of health benefits. There is growing evidence that the fatty acids DHA and ARA at the levels in Enfamil LIPIL are important for mental and visual development in infants. During pregnancy, a growing baby will receive DHA and ARA from the mother — this is especially important during the last trimester when there is significant brain growth. Breastfed babies also receive these nutrients; however, the levels they receive depend on the mother's diet. Breastfeeding mothers can increase the amount of DHA and ARA in their breast milk by eating foods like salmon, tuna, sardines, eggs, and organ meats.

These are some facts on both formulas , but personally I thing the Similac Advance is the better choice. Also a lot of moms tended to use this formula more when I worked in a daycare. Hope this helps. Good Luck! You can check out my site if you like for more tips on future issues.

  3. Well with my first child I use Enfamil with Iron because I was on WIC. She did fine with it though. Although she was extremely colicky. But now they don't carry that anymore. Now it's Similac Advance. I was using the Similac Advance in the blue can but it made my 6 week old spit up all the time. So I tried the Isomil Advance with soy(the red can0. It worked uuntil today. I noticed my 6 week old had blood in her stools and I took her to the doctor and he said she's allergic to it. He also told me that a protein found in cow's milk is also in the soy formula. And your not suppose to give a baby cow's milk till there a year old. so I will never use the soy stuff any more. But not every baby will be allergic to it.

  4. I use Similac Advance. We started out with Enfamil but my son seemed to spit up a lot more with it so we switched over. Only difference I see in the two is that the Similac seems to be frothier.

  5. SIMILAC all the way...... it didnt constipate my baby, it has a sweater taste and my baby loved it.

enfamil (wat he takes now) constipated him terribly, he had to get the gentalease insted of the lipil with iron bc of how bad he was contipated. the reason why we had to switch from similac its bc i moved to a diff state and the wic here only provides enfamil.

  6. I have used both. My first child was on the enfamil lactose free lipil due to horrible spitting up spells and did real well on it. My second child, who also spit up real bad started on the enfamil products but they did not work for him so we switched to similac. I will be completly honest I really feel that each product is a good product and it depends on which brand your child tolerates the best. You should compare the two based on your own child's ability to digest and hold down the formula. I would start w/ one of the two brands and go from there. If it works then keep him/her on it, if it doesn't switch til you find a brand that works for them.

  7. Neither, they're basically the same. I read the back of the cans and they're pretty much the same ingredients. I always thought Enfamil was better ( i don't know why) but they're very similar, and neither offers any more nutrients than the other.

  8. they are both the same my son tried a lot of the different types because he would spit up a lot but in the end he ended up with the enfamil lipil.

  9. Enfamil Lipil, my 11 month old loves it and hasnt had any problems with it.

  10. I have only ever supplemented with Enfamil. But from what I have heard and know Enfamil and Similac are the two higher quality formulas.

I stuck with Enfamil just because I am familiar with it.

My sister had to use Goodstart formula. I think its clumpy and thicker then the other formula.

  11. i started with enfamil lipil, then switched to parents' choice because it has all the same stuff and is way cheaper! i breastfed and used formula as well and never had any problems.

  12. In my opinion I liked Enfamil better.  But every baby is different.  My baby as a newborn spit up similac but never ever had a problem with Enfamil.  As he got older he tolerated both very well.  But then my friends baby was just the opposite.  Her baby spit up Enfamil all the time and did great on Similac.  The best thing to do is get samples from the pediatrician and try them out.  I do like Enfamil though also better because it doesn't clump as easy as Similac although it is not a huge difference.  Another thing too is the scoopfor enfamil is a little smaller than similac which means it yields slightly more, but this too is not a huge difference.

  13. I breastfed and eventually switched over to Enfamil, I liked it alot, very little gas and spit up.

  14. They are exactly the same. There is no brand better than the other. Some babies are sensitive and prefer one over the other but they are essentially the same. I find that Enfamil's powders tend to be finer and disolve a little better but that's just me.

Good luck! Congrats! Your baby's due date is my babys  birthday!

  15. Out of the two choices you gave I would say for both of my daughters,Enfamil lipil worked best because Similac always made them spit up and made them very gassy...but the best formula I ever used had to have been Parents Choice...so if you do not get on WIC and have to buy it yourself then I would suggest tryin Parents Choice Formula because it comes in  1.5 lb cans and its only about 12 bucks a can. Great, cheap, and quantity...what more could you ask for =)
