nice little earners, and just a sidenote at least here in St. Louis there is a little controversy about putting them up because they might cause more accidents if people purposely slow down rapidly.

i live right off a section of road where we have the largest concentration of speed cameras per mile than anywhere else in the country and i haven't been caught once, so you have to ask yourself i am a really good driver or do they actually work ? x

Both,but i do think they are necessary to raise awareness about your speeding if you are caught.

i have no sympathy for drivers. everybody in the country knows the speed limited if you get fined its your own fault nobody to blame but your own self. slow down if you don't want to line the governments pockets. the government is getting rich off idiots who speed then cry about it when they get a fine. the solution is simple drive slower or if you want to speed pay the fine and don't whinge

Where I live they have proven to be both.

They have really slowed speeding drivers down & also made a lot of money for the authorities.

Proof of this, the revenue has dropped on the cameras, due to less speeding.

I think it is a nice little earner.  It can have some use as a safety tool but most of the time it is nothing but another way to earn money.  They don't have to do much except watch the video and send out the tickets.  I guess that saves some of the gas budget.

If you don't want a ticket, don't break the speed limit. It's just that simple. If people are honest with each themselves they'll admit that they were speeding and pay the fine and slow down.

Essential. The police had to put one near a school in my neighborhood because idiots would speed through and someone hit a kid.

I wonder has there ever been the speeding fine scam, person gets the prepaid envelopes sends out speeding fine notices and gets the money for himself. just changes a few things on the letter. It be the perfect crime really no one would question the speeding fine notice. The person who gets one who doesn't pay just thinks they have got lucky if they have not been brought to court.
