In your opinion is PETA too extreme?

I personally don't think so because they need to be controversial in order to get attention to animal cruelty. What do you think?

  1. Yes.

  2. it is slightly extreme...i guess thats why its so effective

  3. I ACTUALLY DO THINK THAT THEY ARE IN ALL THEIR RIGHT AND I KIND OFF DO SUPPORT THEIR MOVEMENTS!!

  4. you need to do more research into peta methods.

  5. I agree with you- they do need to be controversial because the things that PETA are fighting for/against are VERY extreme, as well.

The only way a fight would be fair is to fight fire with fire, which is what PETA does.

My brothers (well, pretty much my entire immediate family) think that PETA is too extreme and only want attention, but they're only half right. PETA does need the attention, otherwise how are they suppose to get the truth across to others?

I respect and advocate what PETA does.

  6. I do not support terrorists; however, PETA does. There are documentation that PETA gave an extremest group loads of money. These men have been arrested for blowing up buildings, vandalizing ... ect.

They are hypocritical. They are angered when people put animals down. However, 2/3 of the animals rescued by PETA are eutanized per year.

I do admit, they have done some great work in the past. They brought some scientists to trial who obviously had no care of animal welfare. But recently, I haven't heard anything good about them.

[edit] They support animal euthanasia. Sorry for the wrong information above. They are against the no kill movement. And they do euthanize the majority of animals given to them.

  7. They are very very tame compared to Green Peace.

Or suicide bombers that blow themselves up for their cause.

  8. in some cases. i do think that they do more good than harm.

  9. No

    I tihnk its perfectly fine

    and \i wanna join!

  10. I'll tell you what... If PETA put thier efforts forward in the right directions... they would get A LOT done! But they way they go about it just makes people mad... and i'm one of them LoL.... I understand PETA only wants to help animals out... But like banning horse slaughter... well it's totally backfired. Now horses are being dumped on the mesas, and in fields; left to starve and thirst to death alone.  I really don't see how that is more humane than just taking controll of the slaughter houses and saying "Look, these animals deserve to be treated fairly, there will be no abuse taking place, and the animals will be done away with quickly and with no pain."  I much rather see an animal put down than wondering around lost, scared, hot, thirsty, and hungry; and the coyotes taking down the weak body.

That kind of stuff makes me furious, PETA is too extreme in very wrong ways... instead of fighting the system they need to work with the system... and actually solve problems.  Instead of doing what they did with Horse Slaughter... just causing another huge problem... thats causing these animals to suffer more than they should!

I'm a barrel racer and God knows I love my horses, if I could bring them in the house with me I would.

  11. It is my opinion that they are only slightly removed from terrorists and should have their tax exempt status examined.

  12. As Nancy Grace and several on her show have said.People fight more for their pets than the kids. The laws are better to pets than kids. Are you serious?our kids deserve more.

I am for non cruelty to animals but it upsets me kids are mistreated and burned by parents and left in hot cars etc.

  13. No. I think you are right. Look at what issues the media covers. The media very rarely presents any sort of coverage of abuses of animals. Consequently, most people think that everything is fine. I am a pretty aware person, and I was shocked to find out that, for example, chickens are completely excluded from federal laws regulating animal slaughter. In our society, out of sight is out of mind, and sadly, the only way to raise awareness about an issue is to pull the kind of gimmicks that PETA does. And you can't deny that it is successful, they are probably the most well-known animal rights group because of these tactics. And the animal rights movement has made some serious progress in the past several decades. Would, for example, Spain's decision to grant legal rights to apes have been remotely plausible even 15 years ago?
