I am asking because my parents anniversary is coming up and I made them a spice rack in woodshop that can hold 5 spices but I am not sure which ones to use. Thanks in advance.

  1. Red chili pepper

    Rosemary

    Basil

    Oregano

    Garlic

Those might not be the 5 most important spices, but they are very often used in cooking and seasoning.

  2. Salt

    Pepper

    Red Pepper Flakes

    Oregano

    Garlic Powder

  3. Parsley flakes

    Italian seasoning

    Dried minced garlic

    Chili Powder

    Poultry seasoning

  4. Why that is SO sweet!

    IMO

    Parsley

    onion powder

    garlic powder

    italian seasoning

    tarragon

Oh yea & major kudos to you!

  5. Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Onion Powder, Seasoned salt.

I'd say those are the most called for spices in all of cooking.

  6. Love, Patients, Care, Giving & Growth.

  7. Oregano, chili powder, poultry seasoning, paprika and cloves.

  8. I usually have more but the 5 I would recommend are:

    1) Cumin

    2) Fennel Seeds

    3) Cardamom

    4) Black Pepper Seeds (I prefer coarse ones, not powdered)

    5) Turmeric Powder

  9. Spice racks normally hold herbs and spices, but not salt.  So the top 5 things I'd want on my handmade spice rack would be Paprika, Parsley, Chili Powder, Garlic Powder (or garlic salt if your mom prefers that) and Oregano.  I'd have separate containers for salt and fresh black pepper handy.  These are probably the items I use most often.

I'm sure your parents will be thrilled for years to have your handmade spice rack.  I know I would be!

  10. Salt, pepper, garlic, parsley and cinnamon

  11. Basil, Garlic, Parsley, Cinnamon, Nutmeg.

They are the top five spices/herbs that I use.  I wouldn't add salt and pepper as they are usually stored separately to the spice rack.  What sort of food do they usually cook?  That is another thing to think about - if they have a lot of lamb and/or potatos then rosemary is a great spice to have.  If they cook a lot of italian meals then oregano, basil, parsley, rosemary and garlic are great - why not get one of mixed italian herbs?  Or if currys are their thing then a curry powder.  If they are more into desserts then cinnamon and nutmeg are must haves.  Maybe you can do a mixed spice and a mixed herbs with three other specific herbs or spices that they would like?  Hope this helps!

  12. Garlic

    Salt

    Crushed Red Pepper

    Oregano

    Basil

  13. salt, pepper, Beau Monde seasoning, whole allspice(for homemade chicken soup)whole celery seeds,(I mix this in Miracle Whip for my tarter sauce)for fish.

  14. Garlic powder

    Onion powder

    Cayenne powder

    Cinnamon

    Paprika

  15. What are the most popular dishes your Mum cooks?

    Italian?

    Garlic

    Parsley/chives

    Chinese?
