The Pacific gray whale (Eschrichtius robustus) gets my vote because it is the only animal that has ever tried to match us in sheer blood-thirsty barbarism. A hundred years ago they were called "devil fish" and were the most feared animal in the sea. Considering that they were competing with dragons and sea serpents for that title, you know they were bad.
