I know this seems a large question, but many people have suprisingly different perspectives on life, and their purpose opposed to everyones purpose as a whole... what do you think is your purpose and how does this effect Your life?

  1. I had hit every bar I could find in Redding from the early afternoon until midnight. I landed up in a bar on the outskirts of Redding where I was continually served though I could not walk or stand straight. It was truly the drunkest I have ever been.  I vaguely remember someone asking me for a ride when I left. I don’t know where my responsible decision came from, but it saved his life.

I drove about 1.5 miles away and during a long turn, I blacked out and woke up to a Flintstone carwash. The impact into the Oak tree was fierce.  I had ripped a guide wire out of the ground before I hit and was told that I took out a good portion of the cities lights.  Just before the crash, I can recall being in such a state of mind that I almost didn’t care if I had lived or died until I woke up.

I was standing up inside the car as it lay up on its side. I looked up and saw the driver’s side window above my head.  I realized I had crashed and sat patiently for a few minutes until someone drove by.  Blood flowed from my eyes, nose and mouth. I got impatient and tried to escape. As I peeked out of the window and looked around, I began to see shadows in the dark. Suddenly, I realized I could not feel anything.  I sensed evil around me and something watching me.  I was dead.

I felt disconnected from God. I felt that.  I began to weep and beg God to forgive me and my sinful life.  I cried to Him to not let me die like this. I begged for Him to bring me back because this is not the way I wanted to be remembered by my children. Everything of any importance became my children at that moment like never before.  I realized I was put here for a special calling, I remember I was anointed by Him at age 8 and I had failed Him.  I was going to h**l and I knew it.  I sobbed and begged with everything I had.  I promised Him that if I were given a second chance, I would “make it right” by Him.

Suddenly, I found myself in my body with paramedics cutting me from my seat belt and pulling out from the windshield. You see, it was impossible to stand up inside the car it was so smashed.  I was actually in my seatbelt and hanging from it as the car was up on its side.  I was rushed to the hospital and I was humbled in His mercy on me.  Life literally took on a whole new meaning for me.  I only shared that story with very few people in my life until now.

After that accident and promise to God, it took me a couple more years but through those few years I began getting closer and closer to leading a better life.  It didn’t happen over night.  But it happened. A couple more small disasters happened in my life to remind me of my promise.  He sent me back and I am keeping my promise.

  2. I think my purpose here in life is to learn...learn all I can. I find the more I learn and the more mistakes I make the better I become. I've been through so much pain (I know most of us have) but where many people would become bitter about life I find that with every obstacle that I overcome the better I become for it, the stronger I become. I've grown to really appreciate the boring times and be glad for the drama free life. I hope that when I have kids I can teach them this and they become a happier generation, a more understanding generation than mine.

So in essence I think that all the turmoil I've endured in life made me able to accept things easier and to teach this to future generations.

  3. to know other. we are the world of change and the true world (or reality, god etc) want to be complete and so need to know itself from outside (other) we are that other.

  4. I seriously dont know... is there a purpose?? To feel emotions as i think they are so raw, like love and pain and all that because why would we have emotions if we wernt to feel them, also i think we r here for animals... although i dont know how much help we're giving them :(

    Thanks for the Question!!

  5. i actually figured that out last night! lol .  I used to always ask myself that.  There actually is no meaning to life you just gotta take life as it comes and live in the moment i guess. ;)...well that's my philosophy.

  6. Things that are created have purpose.  If life is just an accident and there is no Creator, then purpose of life is meaningless.  It's like asking the purpose of a rock on the planet Mars.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

But if there is a Creator, then our purpose is to seek Him and find our peace in Him.

Here is the peace of God:

  7. It's affect instead of effect by the way.

My purpose in life is to be me and have people take away a part of me and use it to their benefit without depriving me of anything. This affects my life sometimes in a good and bad way. In a good way it makes me want to change my bad ways of living and become good so that the people I encounter can take away the good. In a bad way it makes me feel empty sometimes when people take too much of me away and I feel that I don't know who I am anymore or rather what I should be.

Sorry if this was confusing or very vague. My life story would make it clear but it doesn't fit on here and I'm too lazy and in a good mood to write it all out.

  8. This is the reason we choose to take the  human form..to experience, studding, breathing, food, thirst, marriage, child birth..and so many more. The purpose of life is to experience things. If you don't know your purpose of life you can't enjoy it.

  9. Hmm, good question. I think the Purpose of Life is to live. :)

  10. To rid myself of my ego and transcend this earthly existence. I am an educated person and I see many here who are also educated are atheists. It's almost if to say if you are smart, you will believe in science and in Nothing out There! But I just can't shake my beliefs. So the atheists would say it's a coping mechanism or a panacea but it feels deeper than that. And by the way, I am not saying the religious are dumb-so please, do not misunderstand. It's about science, okay?

  11. Hello, o meu é simples, "viver e ser feliz" isso é tudo, beijos.

  12. the purpose of life is to live............ Multiply........ love  and be happy and   to achieve......... hoping that we can pass this on to our kids  that we may have a happier world......... For life is Precious  and not to be taken lightly

  13. It depends on who comes into my life. One may require direction, another may require a shoulder to cry on... i believe most of the time, my purpose has been to guide others so they can be stronger, better, wiser, confident, mature etc etc. Then i am left looking for that one person who could do the same for me. Sad ha!

  14. Life is an amazing gift (whether asked for or not) that ties us all together on this planet in ways we still don't fully understand (worth investigating).

Why does there have to be a purpose?  "Purpose" is a human concept, it doesn't mean the universe created us for a reason (although our ego's can't seem to let that one go).  What's our "function" might be a better question.

Maybe there is a purpose and no one has stumbled upon it yet (I obviously disagree with the world's religions on this).  The universe and it's function is still an amazingly huge enigma to which many people devote their entire lives investigating through science or spirituality trying to understand.  We are so small with respect to the awesome "truth" all around us that we'll never comprehend in our lifetime.  Science gives us breathtaking glimpses ... awe inspiring samples ... beautiful insight to the magnitude of it all.

My purpose is to enjoy this gift of life that has been given to me and use this gift to help the world, now and in the future, be a better place for those who, through no faul of their own, are handed the gift of life and all the baggage that comes with it.

Love yourself.  Love your neighbor.  Love your world.

You only get one trip through ... make it count.

  15. The reason why we are here is find the reason why we are here. Our dream is to have a dream.

We are thrown out in the world without and meaning or reason for existence. There is no destiny, there is no fate and there is no reason.

Since our lives are meaningless, the purpose of our lives therefore is to find meaning. We search for that meaning and when we find it, we follow it.

It's quite hard to explain... But look at it this way, we are born without a purpose, meaning or reason for existence. The purpose therefore is to find meaning. The purpose is just to live life. On the way, we find meaning (friends, families, dreams, love) and we cling to those reasons we found to be reasons for our existence.
