  1. John Ruiz and Buster Douglas..... bums.

  2. carnera was controlled by the mob, and many (most?) of his fights were of the suspicious nature...even jack sharkey is believed by many to have thrown his title fight to primo!

marvin hart and leon spinks are also up there, despite each having a win over a legend (johnson & ali respectively).

ruiz, byrd, douglas, bonecrusher, willard, rahman and mc call would be up there too.

    i stick with primo though.

  3. John Ruiz

He won his title from Evander with a boring, holding his way to a decision Don King paid for.

Then Holyfield won it back but they ripped him off with a draw.

Then he was losing to Kirk Jonhson when all of a sudden  the ref bailed him out by Disqualifying Johnson (it was total bull ****)

Then he got humiliated by Roy Jones Jr. Then Jones vacated the title and they gave it back to Ruiz.

Then he got thoroughly beaten by James Toney, but after the fight Don King paid someone to mess with Tonyes urine sample and get him stripped of the WBA because they said fat butter ball James Toney was taking steroids. Toney himself said "Look at me? do i look like i take steroids?"

So they stripped Toney and "gave" the title back to him. Then he lost it to a joke of a heavyweight Valuev.

The guy was champion 3 times and only won it once and even that 1 time was questionable.

He is the biggest paper champion of all time, one of the most boring heavyweights of all time with absolutely no personality.

Ive never seen a fighter so bought and paid for in my life.

The guy was in court all time time sueing for titles and rankings.

  4. Max Bear! That guy was a killer and didn't even have respect for anyone. I'm glad James Braddock Beat him.

  5. floyd patterson

  6. Marvin Hart......the first time he defended his title he was KOd by Tommy Burns.

  7. Tommy Burns is a top candidate for that dubious honor. When Jim "Boilermaker" Jeffries grew bored and retired, he set up an elimination tournament. Tommy was the best of a bad lot. He reigned until the great Jack Johnsosn toyed with him and easily defeated him. Burns was the shortest heavyweight champ at only 5'-7", so he gave away much reach to such men as Jeffries and Johnson, not to mention skill and strength.

  8. Leon Spinks, Marvin Hart, Francesco Damiani,

John Ruiz  there is some real talent here

  9. You can look at the mid 80s heavyweight roster (aside from Holmes, Spinks, and Tyson) and pretty much take your choice.

But if I had to choice, it would be a tossup between:

John Ruiz - One slow ponderous punch, followed by a clinch.  Repeat that for 12 rounds.  The cure for insomnia!!!!

Bruce Seldon - The man had skills and a good jab.  Unfortunately he lacked 2 things - chin and heart!  I remember he tried a professional wrestling gimmick early in his career.  He got knocked down and seemed to be out and then he jumped up and went on to win against an overmatched opponent.  He tried that against Riddick Bowe and he then got KO'd for real.  And watch is fight against Tyson in '96.  He collapsed from a punch that didn't even land!!!

I rate Seldon worse that Ruiz.  While Ruiz was dreadfully boring, at least he tried.  Seldon was a quitter!
