  1. You're kidding, right??....yea, we've been to the moon but I cant see where that cut my cost of food at Kroger....there's more students graduating with masters in psycology than ever before, yet most of'em can't fix a leak in your average water faucet...there's more world peace experts roaming the earth than ever before, yet dictators seem to be ignoring them in record numbers......great grandpa could fix just about anything that broke down but most people under the age of 20 aren't sure where the oil goes in the car......not long ago I read a few pages from McGuffeys readers(used in schools years ago)to a bunch of 12th graders who really didn't understand what I was reading---what I was reading was geared for kids in the 6th grade,75 years ago!......oh yea, things are going great in most areas except common sense and basic living skills that really matter. I personally know many college graduates who excell in one area or another..but I don't take them hunting with me...if they'd get lost they'd die in 48 hours either from panic or lack of common sense on how to get outta the woods. I guess some things are getting better and some things are getting insanely worse.

  2. I personally agree with Joe. Ameica is suffering from a general lack of passion in all the things that they do. Most people go to college to make more money in a job not because they are truly interested in learning. On the other hand there are a select few that are actually passionate about things and that is where we are developing and making breakthroughs. Edison didnt invent the light bulb because he was assigned a project in school, he did it because he felt compelled to and wanted to make a difference. Things are getting better thanks to a select group of talented people that have passion and put knowledge to good use. Everyone else has become passive and "lets the TV wash over them" after a long day at their boring job. The same goes for politics to. Look at Robert Putnams "Bowling Alone." Civic and community participation are all down in record numbers. Most people don't volunteer anymore, they dont join clubs and organizations like before, and church numbers are all down. Its sad, but true.
