In your own idea what impact of todays technology to you and the society?

How does todays technology impact the individual and the society?  The USA lost the Viet Nam war as a result of its high technological advantage.  Although the military could have reduced the land of South East Asia to resemble that of a moonscape, it did not do so.  Rather, a large amount of lesser, but still formidable, technology was employed on a vast scale.  Facing an enemy living on rice, who burrowed into the ground, and used borrowed/stolen weaponry, such might, and the techniques it fostered, was found to be totally ineffective.  Now, in the 21st Century, many travel companies are offering tours to the "beautiful and exotic land of Viet Nam."  I think that our high level of technology may not always be utilized correctly.  Thus, we live with the dead, the mutilated, and the dying, as a result thereof.  

And if one believes Viet Nam as being "too old of a social problem" in response to the question, simply consider the grab for oil presently occurring in the Mideast.  Once again the USA is engaged with an enemy both culturally and socially alien to us.  Whenever there is an advancement in technology it seems that the USA enjoys placing itself in a position to exploit such advantage.  Regardless of the outcome of these current hostilities, all of us will be solicited to vacation in Iraq and other of the currently off-limit outer colonies, within the next 35-40 years.  

Although technology allows us to control our environment at will, it also provides us with the ability to destroy it, at will.  

I think that Oppenheimer expressed it best when he was alleged to have remarked, "..Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds..."  (The Bhagavad Gita (”The Song of the Lord”))

Actually the text from the Bhagavad Gita is: "I am time, the destroyer of all; I have come to consume the world. Even without your participation, all the warriors gathered here will die."
