  1. (It is actually the tenth commandment, by the way.)  If you read the rest of the verse from which it comes, you will find that it says more than house.  The word house represents the whole of what your neighbor possesses.  If you would like to read the verse, it is found in Exodus 20:17.

  2. Coveting generally means an excessively strong desire for other people's property. In other words, to sit and constantly dwell on wanting what is everyone else's is wrong, and really gets you nowhere in life.

In fact, if you continue on that path, it will proabably lead to another "sin" such as theft, or lying, or cheating, or whatever else. Or people can become bitter because they see other people as "having stuff" and they want it as well. That is one reason why some people get in outrageous debt, they want to keep up with the latest fads or neighbors.

So basically don't sit and want what is everyone else's is what it means.

  3. Be content with what you have.

  4. do not be envious

  5. Blick shingun welshdeal.

    - - - well, you said use your own words!!!

  6. I think it means that you're not supposed to lust after anyone.

  7. You shall not covet.

It is my belief that you should not desire anything that belongs to your neighbor.  Who is your neighbor?  I believe that this is saying that you shouldn't desire anything that belongs to anyone else at all.  You should be content with what you have and with what God has given you.  We all have our portion.  All belongs to God.  I think this also tells us to mind our own business.  We are not to stick our noses in our neighbors affairs or try to be nosy and find out about things that do not concern us.  We should spend 1/2 of our time minding our own business and the other 1/2 staying out of everyone elses.  God bless.

  8. not to be jealous of any material goods, and un material goods. like god loves us all the same, so we shouldn't be jealous of any one or anything

  9. I think that one says "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife" or spouse and it means don't get it on with your neighbor's wifey, no hanky panky with neighbor's wifey or husband...However that is the tenth commandment...

  10. I must have read a different Word of God to you, because I clearly remember it being an *** (donkey) and not a house.

I suppose the alternative word for donkey might cause offence in some circles, so God would happily overlook that minor infraction against His command that the Bible not be altered.

In my own words, don't be envious. It serves no one. So they have more, in whatever terms, be it livestock or real estate. To spend your time feeling aggrieved about something as petty as whether or not you have a spa as well is wasteful. If you want to "keep up with the Jones's", work for it. Basically, quit yer grumblin'.

Not a bad bit of advice.

  11. don't be envious of other peoples things. Appreciate what you have

  12. It's telling you not to long for or desire greatly something that belongs to others.

  13. We can admire the belongings of others. You can say "What a beautiful house! I'd love to own one like it." But if your desire leads you to feeling jealous and not wanting the person who has the house to own it, or if your desire leads you to try to steal or coerce the person into giving it to you, that is wrong. You have wronged your fellow man, and you have denied God's omnipotence and wisdom by thinking He gave the house to the wrong person. Obviously it doesn't only mean house, but other belongings as well.
