I'm talking about hard-working, 30 to 50 year-old voters. Ya know, the people that actually go out and vote at election time? Is the DNC putting too much faith in the 20-somethings, and the far-left crowd? Will the so-called "silent majority" cost them yet another presidential election?

  1. No, the entire congress is out of touch.  Cons included.

  2. no...I think both parties are.

  3. You just described ME! And I will be voting for Obama.

    Don't make such broad assumptions....

  4. its been that way since JFK.

  5. Yes, completely out of touch.  They have established a leadership in the party that is clueless about what most Americans think..

  6. NOPE - 42 years old and I feel the DNC is doing just fine!

  7. YES THEY ARE AND THEY PRETENT TO SEE WHAT THE WORLD IS (WHICH IS DANGEROUS

that is why i left the party

  8. Majority of voters want the US to drill for oil.  Majority of voters oppose illegal immigration and want the borders secured and the laws enforced.  The Democrats have had control of Congress for the past 2 years, both houses.  Congress's approval rating is at an all-time low.  Independent voters give them a 3% approval rating.  Why hasn't Congress undertaken CHANGE they so adamantly desire.  The facts speak for themselves.

  9. The Dem's just can not get it....too bad, another Republican in office.

  10. Completely!  The Democrats have been out of touch with most citizens of the U.S. for the last 40 years.

  11. Yes, they are COMPLETELY out of touch with real Americans.  How can a career politician possibly know what it's like to wake up at 5am and work 12 hours a day for 10-20 years to support a family?

What worse is that the working American doesn't have the power to even change anything.  I live in California where my red vote goes nowhere since I live in a blue state.  So why even bother?

Then you have the issue super delegates.  How would YOU feel if you voted to support a super delegate that supported Hillary in the primary who has the power of hundreds of votes, only to have the super delegate show up at the DNC and vote for Obama?

The whole voting system in this country has become a complete sham.  The more you complicate things, the easier it is to s***w them up.  And the more I have read, the more I have listened, and the more I have seen, the more I believe that a simple POPULAR VOTE is the only thing that is fair anymore.  If every vote truly counts, then every vote should matter.  Not the vote of super delegates or electoral votes from districts that overshadow everybody elses.

  12. Ummm...YES, and yes, and yes...

  13. I'm 41, hardworking, employed, worked hard to get through school, had $50K in student loans, etc, and yes, the DNC is completely out of touch. I didn't go through all of that to fund handout programs. Let them go out and get student loans to go to school and achieve like I did. What is wrong with people nowadays and the handout mentality.

  14. They've been leaning to the left for so long, they forget how to come back to the middle.

  15. Nope - I also will be voting for Obama and fit your category.

The government has been set to protect businesses and their greatest profit over the interests of the public, and needs to be tilted back in the other direction by a good amount.

The notion that we are in danger of falling over to the far left is laughable.  We have to push away the far right in order to even SEE the far left.

  16. YES, they are completely out of touch with real Americans.

  17. Yes they are, especially their candidate of choice:

    OBAMA'S MESSAGE OF CHANGE

Frank Luntz conducted a focus group just before the Democrat convention. His findings should be somewhat eye opening for Obama: "change" isn't going to win Obama the presidency. Luntz says, "The way that he gets here to the Democratic nomination - 'change' - is not how he gets there, to the White House ...If it's change, by itself, he will fail. Change what? Change how? Change why?" Apparently most of the focus group was skeptical and even dismissive of the word "change."

Well here are the results of what people thought of Obama, John McCain and the Bush presidency.

        * Obama: apocalypse, terrifying, scary, pizzazz, unknown, inexperienced, innovative, new, charismatic, smooth, unaffordable, change, hopeful.

        * McCain: dependable, strong, experienced, scary, patriot, veteran, experienced, Bush Two, veteran, older generation, little boy, integrity, frightening, honest, older, cantankerous, repeat.

        * Bush: self-centered, disciplined, unreliable, disappointing, conventional, dishonest, idiot, crook, nightmare, felon, self-assured, irresponsible.

It looks like they're really going to need to come up with some more buzz words and phrases. Wouldn't it be nice, though, if we were to campaign on substance instead of trying to trigger reactions with words? What all of this really does is show the shallowness of the American voter.

  18. I think they're counting too much on the college crowd.  The far-leftists will come out in force, but when it comes time to actually vote, most of his young supporters may have more important things to do, like who's going to bring the beer for the tail-gate party before the game.  They may be different this year, but historically, young supporters usually don't come out and vote on election day.  They figure someone else will do it and they're just too busy going about their lives to bother.  At least I certainly hope so!

The DNC is also neglecting the fact that us 'older' folks may not respond to polls, we may not go to rallies or openly express our opinions, but we DO come out to vote, come rain or shine, because, unlike the young Obama supporters, we take this seriously and it's not just a passing fad....it's the future of our country.

  19. You described me too, and I will not only be voting for Obama, but I'm campaigning on his behalf in my area.

Besides, McCain and his 7 kitchen tables means he's in touch with the American public?
