In your travels, which country did you enjoy more, Spain or Portugal? Why?

I find to hard to say which one I enjoyed most as they are both lovely countries...but of all the places I have gone to ..Majorca is my favourite..it's a beautiful Island .

Neither! I think both Spain and Portugal are not good value at all.  Spain was popular in the 60's and 70's but since the Falklands War in the 80's the Spanish have been exceptionally rude to us.  Portugal is not so bad but just very boring.  The Algarve is full of cliffs so lots of hills/steps to the beach etc.  Neither destination is cheap, especially given the current exchange rate £ versus Euro.  I would forget these two destinations in favour of Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and Bulgaria.  They win hands down.  So  much prettier, lovely friendly people and cheap as chips!

They are both completely different countries, language, foods, architecture, lifestyle, so it is hard to choose... I spent a month travelling around portugal alone and about the same time travelling in spain with friends, so my experiences were different.  I love Lagos in the Algarve and look forward to visiting again, but I have been living in Madrid for the past 9 months and am about to move to Valencia for the next year.  So I guess I enjoy both countries equally.
