In your view, are people on here using R&S to become more intolerant or more tolerant?

Getting to know what others think and believe should take us closer but sadly, it's the other way around because mostly people simply enjoy to bash anyone else opinion. If there's no respect, there's no tolerance.

From what I can tell, it's neither.  This is a free, voluntary, very democratic, global, anonymous form of entertainment.  Anybody who thinks that they are going to change anybody else's mind about anything on this forum is probably suffering from delusions of grandeur.

More tolerant - Those that are intolerant don't seem to get any more intolerant. While those that are tolerant seem to become more tolerant as R&S can test you many times. Although the tolerant may lash out on occasion, ultimately they are strengthened by the tests.

I don't think that is the goal.  

I think that Christians and others are here to share their unique perspectives,

and the hope is that some of these perspectives might cause those on the other side to take a fresh look.

I have definitely gotten MORE tolerant than when I started.I see such outlandish drivel on here,just bizarre,that the little S**t doesn't bother me anymore.If someone comes off as even reasonably intelligent,I have no problems with them anymore.No boy,No siree,no problem with them at all.I've heard whacked stuff on here,I mean creepy,stay away from my whole state creepy.With them around,tolerating the non radicals is a cinch

Depends on the person.  Some become more intolerant, some more tolerant, and some remain the same.

I think the arguments - particularly on the atheist side - are getting a lot sharper and less tolerant of 'magical thinking'. It just comes with practice.

not only here in R/S, but in all the categories, there seems to be a new thread of animosity, and inappropriate questions as well as answers.  It is no where near as enjoyable as it was a year ago.  I hope it is just a cycle.
