Question:

In yu-gi-oh damage phase, do multiple weaker monsters attacking "wear down" the ATK of a stronger monster?

The rules are somewhat vague on how ATK damage is calculated. Either it's the case that a monster can be killed by only a stronger monster (or magic), or it's the case that a few weaker monsters can "grind down" a stronger monster during a battle phase (but you'd lose most of them).

  1. No, not at all. The monster must have higher attack to destroy it. They could also be equal, but they are both destroyed.

  2. you can kinda do something like that in magic, but that's not how it works in yugioh

  3. no the monster must have a higher attack.

    to destroy the monster.

i belive your thinking of magic where creatures can be worn down by multiple creatures.

  4. No to destroy an opponent's monster by battle during the damage step you have to have ATK higher then than your opponents.

The only way that you could "Grind Down" an opponents monster is if you attacked an opponent's Goblin Attack Force or a similar card which would have a trigger effect activate and force the monster into a weaker position after it battles

  5. No, it has to be higher or equal to the monster's atk power or by a trap/spell cards.
