InFamous 2 DLC ‘Festival of Blood’ hits the PlayStation Network, vampires galore
Fans of the PlayStation 3 exclusive title, InFamous 2, have a reason to wipe the dust of their copies of the game as the ‘Festival of Blood’ Downloadable Content Pack has been released on Sony’s online digital distribution platform, the PlayStation Store.
The add-on will expand on the universe which the game’s electrically charged protagonist, Cole McGrath, indulges in his heroics and tends to save the world, with an invasion of Vampires that he must defend the citizens of New Marais from.
The DLC was originally announced earlier this year and unlike many other titles, it has not fallen prey to any delays.
It was released in the United States PlayStation Store yesterday, the 25th of October, and has hit its European counterpart today, the 26th of October, as scheduled.
For those who are not familiar with the game and its story line, the games follow the story of, the aforementioned, protagonist, Cole McGrath, as he goes from being an ordinary bike messenger to a superhero after one of the packages he was delivering exploded.
The city was destroyed and the ruins and its survivors were quarantined in the first game, where Cole set about delivering justice and finding out for himself where the package came from.
The second game saw him grow a bit of hair and move to a new city, battle huge monsters and run from the police at the same time. The second game expanded on the experience of the first one and it seems that Sucker Punch, the game’s developer, are not done
with it yet.
Jack Tretton, a Sony executive, announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, which took place earlier on in the year, that the game would be receiving more support and announced that an update would be released which would allow for PlayStation
Move compatibility.
The motion controller would allow players to create custom missions which could be shared with other gamers over the PlayStation Network and would help empower the community in becoming self-sufficient in terms of content.
However, the latest DLC has a full-fledged storyline of its own. The antagonists will come in the form of vampires, but to be honest, they became boring since the world had to suffer since the Twilight series came into existence.
The ‘Festival of Blood’ add-on is priced at $14.99 and is available via download only. If gamers needed an excuse to electrocute vampires or pick up a copy of InFamous 2, this would be it and the Move support looks an enticing prospect.
At the same time, everyone has to be asking the question, how long do we have to wait for InFamous 3?
