Question:

Ina Garten of "The Barefoot Contessa"; Snob or not?

Why does she always have to say, "Use GOOD so-and-so" all the time? It's not like most of us can afford to purchase the expensive brands of food and condiments that she can! I like her, but she can be a tad elitist at times. Discuss

  1. Ina Rosenberg Garten (born February 2, 1948) is an American author and host of the Food Network program Barefoot Contessa. "Known for creating fine cuisine foods with an emphasis on quality ingredients" and time saving tips, she has been championed by Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, and Patricia Wells as an authority on cooking and home entertaining.

Garten had no formal training; she taught herself culinary techniques with the aid of French and New England cookbooks. Later, she relied on intuition and feedback from customers and friends to refine her recipes.

    P.S.

Or not.  ( ^ _ ^ ) I kinda' figured the thumbs down was coming around the corner.  Sooner or later.

  2. overall i like her but she is sooooooooooo hamptons sometimes

  3. "Good" doesn't necessarily equate "expensive."

For example, you can get a decent quality chunk of cheddar cheese for what you pay for a loaf of Velveeta.  It's a matter of testing the product and seeing what tastes the best.

Ironically, sometimes it is the cheaper priced item that is the better quality product.  For example, American-made Grey Poupon mustard has been rated higher quality than its French import competitors.

  4. Meh--I think she can be a bit s****..  It's like she has this endless budget and assumes everyone else does too.  Plus, she has that horrible nervous laugh that she uses constantly when she's around people.
