  1. A psychological or emotional inability to cry is most likely a symptom of depression.  Sometimes people who suffer from depression have a blunted emotional response to stress and other types of negative stimuli, which makes it extremely difficult for them to cry.  Medications for depression can have a blunting effect as well.

    A physical inability to cry is a medical condition called familial dysautonomia.
