Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis: A reflection on their 2012 performance
Inbee Park, a South Korean professional golfer, has three Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour tournaments to her name. She is a very competent young golfer.
She won her first LPGA tournament back in 2008, when she was 20 years old. Park plays on the LPGA Tour.
She made a name for herself by competing against the best and exhibiting some great golfing shots.
She won her second LPGA tournament this year, in 2012. The Korean golfer won the Evian Masters tournament by beating the seasoned golfer Karrie Webb and the American Stacy Lewis.
Park won the Evian Masters tournament by a convincing margin of two shots.
In a statement after claiming her second LPGA title, she said that it is great feeling to have won a tournament after such a long time.
She added that although she won the title after four years, it was still worth it and it took a great deal of precise putting as well as calculated driving to achieve her goal.
Park commented on what she was up against during the final round and said that there were several players in contention for the title. So something had to be done in order to come out on top of them.
She said that her rival, Lewis was extremely close behind. Therefore, she had to raise the level of her game in order to go home with the winner’s cheque.
Park is a highly talented golfer. She had made her mark on the ladies golf tour and is a respectable figure amongst her companions.
Park played 24 tournaments in 2012 so far and made the cut in 23 of them. She is currently ranked the number 4 golfer in the world and has earned US$ 2,287,080 this year.
The American, Stacy Lewis is another prominent figure on the Ladies Professional Golf Association tour.
She has played 26 LPGA tournaments this year and had made the cut in 25 of them. This is high ratio even for golfers at the professional level. The American has had 16 top ten finishes and is currently placed third in order of ranking, which is one place
ahead of her rival, Park.
Although Park had a decent year so far but, statistically speaking, the American Lewis had a higher ratio of success rate as compared to the South Korean.
Lewis had the best year of her golf career, as she won four high profiled tournaments. She won the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic tournament in April, defeating her country woman Lexi Thompson by a margin of one stroke.
The second tournament she won was in June, where she lifted the ShopRite LPGA Classic trophy by convincingly thrashing the Australian Katherine Hull with four strokes.
The third tournament she won this year was in September where she again beat the American Lexi Thompson. She won the Navistar LPGA Classic by playing a consistently good game and eventually came out on top to claim the cheque of $US 195,000.
Last month, she won her fourth title of the year by defeating Bo-Mee Lee in the Mizuno Classic.
The year was a great success for the American and it has to be seen if she can continue with the same form in the coming season.
